General Event Information
Swan River Sailing runs an array of sailing events throughout the year, including State, National and International events. These regattas cater for a wide range of sailors from youth and women's categories to open events.
These regattas include:
- Sunseeker Australia Cup: DEFERRED. The premium event on the Australian yachting calendar. Teams from the World Match Racing Tour and sailors straight from the America’s Cup will race exclusively on Perth water, directly in front of Perth City in the lead up to the final and deciding World Match Racing Tour event, the Monsoon Cup.
- Country Clubs Regatta: See Inter Club Championships
- Colin Mullins International Youth Regatta: Open to local, interstate and international teams ranked outside ISAF’s top 100 match racing skippers, this event primes and selects teams for the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta.
- Warren Jones International Youth Regatta: Recognised as the best international youth match racing event in the world, this event provides young sailors with the opportunity to reach their goal of competing amongst their heroes on the World Match Racing Tour and one day, the America’s Cup.
- Inter Club Championships: Conducted over three days, this event determines which yacht club has the best yachtsmen, women and youth in the State. Metropolitan and regional yacht clubs are all invited to put their best teams forward to race off against the best teams from Clubs around Western Australia. The Country Club contingent within the fleet will be recognised with the top placed regional Club awarded the Country Clubs Perpetual Trophy.
- Foundation Youth Cup: This event invites sailors of 21 years of age and under to test their mettle and gain experience in the matched fleet of Foundation 36 yachts. After a practice session in the morning, sailors will meet a yachting legend before a series of five races are conducted in the afternoon for the Foundation Youth Cup.
- College Cup: All private colleges are invited to compete in this annual event. Entry is open to Old Boys/Girls and current students and reforms acquaintances and friendships while enjoying some old school rivalry. Celebrating its 21st birthday in 2012, this event will be a ‘not-to-miss’ occasion…stay tuned!
Women's State Keelboat Championships: Women’s teams from around Western Australia are invited to enter this series of short course fleet racing to determine which women’s team is the best in the state.- Foundation 36 Open Classic Series: Open to all WA sailors, this event is the only opportunity to race off against other sailors from all WA classes in the evenly matched one design fleet of Foundation 36 yachts. The event incorporates a five-race series of competitive short course windward/leeward battles that will satisfy the most competitive of sailors. In addition to the traditional podium awards, a variety of prizes will also be awarded including but not limited to the ‘best dressed’ team and the regatta ‘mug’ award.
